Ambassador Rahmani is driven to deliver tangible solutions that expand women’s access and opportunities
Throughout her career, she has been consistently involved in advancing women's rights from various angles. She has spoken and written extensively on development, security, economic and political participation, and their nexus with women's rights.
Currently, she is dedicated to supporting women's economic empowerment through access to capital and technology. Ambassador Rahmani firmly believes that global peace will remain elusive as long as it takes over 200 years to achieve gender economic parity.
During her tenure as Country Director for Rights & Democracy, she led efforts to create a marriage contract that enhanced the rights and responsibilities for both parties, which was adopted as a national document for marriage registration in Afghanistan. Her work significantly contributed to family law reform and building the capacity of local NGOs. Additionally, she supported women's organizations in 11 countries across Africa, South Asia, and Central Asia in managing their advocacy and development programs.
As Chief Strategist for Equality Now, she designed the strategy for the global Family Law Campaign. Later, as a Distinguished Fellow at Georgetown University, she served as a resource on Women, Peace, and Security issues.
In her private sector role, she has contributed to Vice President Harris's WISE initiative through Delphos International Ltd. Ambassador Rahmani has also helped initiate various initiatives to promote women’s empowerment, including the Canadian Women for Women of Afghanistan Ottawa Chapter and the Musawah global movement. She has spoken and written extensively on development, security, economic and political participation, and their nexus with women's rights.
