What she’s up to…
Ambassador Roya Rahmani is a diplomat and businesswoman with 20 years of experience across the non-profit, government, and private sectors.
She has achieved numerous firsts, including being the first Afghan woman to serve as Ambassador to both the United States and Indonesia, where she reached new heights, negotiated critical decisions, and set records. As the first Director General for Regional Cooperation at Afghanistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she led dozens of multilateral processes, building consensus around joint agreements, MoUs, and declarations.
Before her diplomatic career, she spent several years in non-profit management across multiple countries, contributing to the multi-fold expansion of organizations and amplifying their reach and impact. She has fought for everything she has achieved, from securing her right to education to facilitating high-level agreements that preserved economic assistance for the Afghan people and established strategic partnerships with lasting impacts.
Currently, she serves as the Chair of Delphos International, a leading global financial advisory firm, and as a senior advisor with the Atlantic Council and Albright Stonebridge Group. She is dedicated to supporting global development projects and to working with clients, governments, and multilateral institutions to promote responsible advancement. Ambassador Rahmani is a forward thinking leader, looking to the potential of new technology, like artificial intelligence, to tackle complex problems worldwide.
